What is this
Every Thursday, I will share a god diary about what we are doing in the past few weeks. I will focus on the interesting challenges and solutions I am facing. I will not be able to cover everything, but I will share what I was interested.
Why do I do
I want to bring our community on this journey, and I like to write the things I have enthusiast! This is my unfilter God Journal, so please keep in mind that what I write here is my thoughts and that you will read this will be old by the time, because many things change quickly. Any plans that I refer to are not set in stone and everything is subject to change. Also, if you do not like spoilers, don’t read this.
Space Engineers 2
Moding for vs 1.5 – SE2
This Tuesday we introduced moding for vs 1.5 – SE2!
It was a big update because it allows modders to change the game by simply changing the data. Modders can add new blocks, replace existing blocks, textures, character models, skyboxes, sound and music and other items.

I think our moding technology is quite amazing, because it is all data based. We have published a hub and editor where you can do it all in WYSIWYG mode (with belief, samples, etc.), and your changes are validated – which reduces the possibility of breaking things. And it’s all blender compatible – a very important thing for me, making 3D modeling for SE2 for everyone.
Thank you again the model delivering team – it was a really big project and will serve the SE community for the next decades!
VS2 planets and existence
This is our main priority right now.
SE1 didn’t have a clear meta loop, and this was an advantage (it kept the game very open and focus on what people want to do) but also the disadvantage (some players really wanted clear objectives and visible success metric).

I feel very good about the final meta loop we designed:
- Your goal is to colonize the sector after the sector, Almagest
- You see the progress of your colonization on the colonization map – complete Almagest, fields, planets, GPS locations, etc.
- You colonize fields by completing a contract/mission
- Types of Agreement: Engineering, Research, Mining and Fight Fight
This gives the ultimate purpose and final goal: colonize Almagest. Everything will turn into this singular goal – and it’s easy to scene, tangible and understand and communicate. It is a final goal that you can reach within a reasonable time. And the game does not end there-it can continue in open-end free-style sandbox mode. You can keep a building or just complete the mission.

Vs3 water
We are going through the final planning phase for VS3 water-which will still have to be implemented according to gameplay, not water tech for VS3. Of course, the VS2 planets and water will be released after survival, but we are working parallel to them.
